Diet, Nutrition, and Housing

Superworms and Mealworms require two things for their nutrition: 1) Dry Food (Bedding or Substrate) and 2) Wet Food (Fruits and Vegetables)

1.Dry Food – this is the main food of the worms. It is important that these contain no pests. Primary pests are one of the main causes of mortality and deterred growth of worms. The following can be used as substrate:


-Oatmeal
-Any chicken feeds
-Corn meal

2. Wet food – these are another source of nutrition of the worms. Their functions are mainly for water source. The following are what we recommend:

-Chayote
-Potato
-Carrots
-Leafy vegetables (Pechay, Cabbage)
-Watermelon
-Papaya
-Cucumber
-Apple
-Banana

3. Housing – It is important that your worms should be kept in a cool environment away from sunlight and heat. Do not cover your trays to provide ventilation and airflow.
