It’s a short debate for those who are familiar with these creatures. The answer is – They are both insects. But why do they call them “worms”
Entomologists would identify insects as having the following:
-Three pair of legs
-Three major body regios – Head, Thorax, and Abdomen
-Pair of wings
-Antenna
-Presence of compound eyes
-Segmented body
Superworms belong to Kingdom Animalia, Phylum Arthropoda, Class Insecta, Order Coleoptera (Order of beetles), Family Tenebrionidae, Genus Zophobas, and Species morio.
Mealworms belong to Kingdom Animalia, Phylum Arthropoda, Class Insecta, Order Coleoptera, Family Tenebrionidae, Genus Tenebrio, and Species molitor.
